DCL

Distributed
Compliance Ledger

The DCL development project is expected to finish in Q2 2021 and integration with existing DCPN services will be done during Q3 2021.

DCL is a ledger where documents and metadata about specific documents is stored and published. A document can be published as either public or private. Public documents are published with their metadata in the DCL, whilst private documents only have their metadata published in the DCL.

The ledger also shows the version history of a document and has a search function where different search criteria (e.g. document ID or checksums) can be used to search for, locate and display the available details about the document.

The ledger has an API where other services or applications can connect to the ledger to download the document or obtain metadata about a document that can be used to verify the document or a signature.

All documents published in the ledger are trackable, identifiable and verifiable.

What is a ledger?

A ledger is the nontechnical name of the blockchain component of the DCPN infrastructure and it contains a sequence of events that create an irrefutable chain of digital evidence.

Ledgers

There is three different types of ledgers in the DCPN Network:

DCPN Ledgers

DCPN ledgers are public ledgers that are organised into different industries and business segments and they are shared over participating peers in the DCPN network. These ledgers are governed by the DCPN Advisory board.

Public Ledgers

Public ledgers are created by members of the DCPN Network and are open for everyone to read and verify data. The owner of a public ledger will decide which peers can host their ledger and the owner of a peer will decide which ledgers they host.

Private Ledgers

Private ledgers are created by members of the DCPN Network and can only be accessed by authorized users to read and verify data. The owner of a private ledger will decide which peers can host their ledger and the owner of a peer will decide which ledgers they host.

DCL – Distributed Compliance Ledger

All documents published in the ledger are trackable, identifiable and verifiable

The ledger has an API where other services or applications can connect to the ledger to download the document or obtain metadata about a document that can be used to verify the document or a signature.

Implementing the DCL is done simply by using our easily used REST api.
